Martin Frobisher is one of my favourite rugosas, being so different in the form of bloom than any of the others. He has that loved muddled button center that forms when the very inner petals fold in on themselves, and a fresh light green foliage. I don't know what happened to my original plant of Martin...in fact I can't even remember what part of the garden I planted it in. Luckily, though, I took some cuttings and planted them out in a shady bed, when Martin has happily suckered away and formed a nice little clump. He has a sweet fragrance and doesn't seem to mind our hot climate despite having come from Canada's cold climes.
